Child Safety Standards

Last updated 11 October 2026

Kura-Tu has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page sets out our standards, how to report a concern, and what we do when one is reported. It applies to the Kura-Tu app on every platform and to everything submitted through it.

1. What is prohibited

Using Kura-Tu to create, upload, share, request or link to any of the following is prohibited:

child sexual abuse material, in any form, including drawn, edited or AI-generated imagery;
content that sexualises a minor;
grooming, sextortion or any attempt to contact a minor for sexual purposes;
trafficking or the commercial sexual exploitation of children;
content that promotes, normalises or instructs others in any of the above.

This applies to every place you can enter text or images in the app, including polling-place updates and comments, incident reports, data reports, and the images submitted for voter registration verification.

2. Who Kura-Tu is for

Kura-Tu is a civic app for adults eligible to register to vote. It is not directed at children. It has no direct messaging, no public profiles and no way for one user to contact another, which leaves few ways for anyone to use it to reach a child.

3. How to report a concern

If you see anything in Kura-Tu that may involve the abuse or exploitation of a child, or believe someone is using the app to harm a child, tell us:

Email contact@kura-tu.com with the subject “Child safety report”, or use the form below. Describe what you saw and where in the app you saw it. Please do not attach or forward the material itself.
In the app, use Report an Incident on a polling place, or Report data on a race, and describe the concern.

You do not need an account to report. Child safety reports are handled ahead of all other support requests.

If a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (911 in the United States) first. You can also report directly to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at CyberTipline.org or 1-800-843-5678. Outside the US, the INHOPE network lists the hotline for your country.

4. What we do

When we learn of suspected CSAE or CSAM, through a report or otherwise, we:

remove the content and stop it being displayed;
suspend the account responsible, permanently where the violation is confirmed;
preserve the information the law requires us to keep, and nothing more;
report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as required of US providers by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, and cooperate with law enforcement and the relevant regional and national authorities.

We do not tell the account holder that a report has been made where doing so could hinder an investigation.

5. Compliance

Kura-Tu complies with applicable child safety laws, including US federal reporting obligations, and with the child safety policies of the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

6. Contact us
